Copyright, licensing, and access policy

Terra Alimentaria, published by Nusaxis Pustaka Mandiri, is committed to the global democratization of scientific knowledge. We believe that freely sharing research supports a greater global exchange of knowledge, accelerates scientific discovery, and maximizes the visibility and impact of our authors' work. To achieve this, we have established clear, author-friendly policies regarding access, copyright retention, and licensing.

1. Open Access Policy

Terra Alimentaria operates under a strict, gold Open Access model. We adhere to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of Open Access.

  • Immediate Access: All articles published in the journal are freely and permanently available to the general public immediately upon publication. There are absolutely no embargo periods.
  • No Barriers: The journal and all individual articles are freely accessible to readers without the need for subscriptions, site registrations, or pay-per-view fees.
  • Reader Rights: Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful, non-commercial, or commercial purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

2. Copyright Policy

We respect the intellectual property of our contributors. Terra Alimentaria does not force authors to sign over their copyright.

  • Full Copyright Retention: Authors who publish in Terra Alimentaria retain full copyright and all proprietary publishing rights to their work without any restrictions.
  • Right of First Publication: By submitting their work, authors grant the publisher (Nusaxis Pustaka Mandiri) the right of first publication and the right to distribute the article globally under the journal's Open Access license.
  • Author Reuse Rights: Because authors retain their copyright, they maintain the unrestricted right to reuse, republish, and distribute their own work in future publications, books, or compilations, provided that the original publication in Terra Alimentaria is properly acknowledged.

3. Licensing Policy

To legally facilitate our Open Access model, all articles published in Terra Alimentaria are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Licensing Transparency: The CC BY 4.0 licensing information is visibly indicated on the full-text HTML page of every published article, embedded within the article metadata, and printed on the final PDF version of the manuscript.

Under the CC BY 4.0 License, users are free to:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

Under the following terms:

  • Attribution: Users must give appropriate credit to the original author(s) and the journal, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. Users may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses the user or their specific use of the material.
  • No Additional Restrictions: Users may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

4. Self-Archiving and Repository Policy

In full alignment with our Open Access and Copyright policies, Terra Alimentaria strongly encourages authors to self-archive their work to increase its reach and citation impact. Authors are permitted to deposit all versions of their manuscript in institutional repositories, subject-based repositories, pre-print servers, and personal or departmental websites.

  • Submitted Version (Pre-print): Authors may share their original, un-reviewed manuscript anywhere at any time.
  • Accepted Manuscript (Post-print): Authors may share the peer-reviewed, accepted version of their manuscript immediately upon acceptance, with a zero-month embargo.
  • Published Version (Version of Record): Authors may share the final, publisher-formatted PDF immediately upon publication.

Acknowledgment Requirement: When self-archiving the Accepted or Published version, authors must include a clear citation to the original publication in Terra Alimentaria and provide a link to the article on the journal's website using its official Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
