Role and Responsibilities

Editorial Board Members at Terra Alimentaria serve an initial term of two (2) years, which is mutually renewable. The core responsibilities include:

  • Manuscript Handling: Managing the peer-review process for a reasonable number of manuscripts per year within your specific area of expertise. This includes conducting initial desk reviews, inviting qualified independent reviewers, and making final editorial decisions (Accept, Revise, or Reject).
  • Upholding Quality and Ethics: Ensuring all handled manuscripts adhere to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, actively checking for plagiarism, and preventing citation manipulation.
  • Journal Ambassadorship: Actively promoting the journal within your professional network, encouraging high-quality submissions from colleagues, and occasionally contributing original research, reviews, or editorials.
  • Strategic Guidance: Providing feedback and suggestions to the Editor-in-Chief regarding the journal's strategic direction, special issues, and policy updates.

Minimum Qualifications

To maintain our rigorous academic standards and comply with national and international accreditation criteria (including DOAJ, Scopus, and SINTA), applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Hold a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral-level degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Nutrition, or a closely related discipline.
  • Have an active and robust publication record, with multiple recent publications as a first or corresponding author in recognized, peer-reviewed international journals.
  • Possess verifiable prior experience as a peer reviewer for reputable scientific journals.
  • Demonstrate fluency in written and academic English.
  • Commitment to the principles of Open Access publishing and strict adherence to COPE ethical standards.
  • Familiarity with the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform is an advantage, though comprehensive training will be provided to all new editors.
