Digital Archiving & Preservation

Terra Alimentaria is committed to the permanent availability, accessibility, and preservation of scholarly research. In accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and international open-access standards, we have implemented a robust long-term digital archiving strategy to ensure that the scientific record remains intact and accessible in perpetuity.

1. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

As a journal operating on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, Terra Alimentaria utilizes the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN).

The PKP PN deposits published content into a decentralized, globally distributed dark archive using the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program. This ensures that the journal's content is securely preserved and can be restored and made publicly accessible even in the unlikely event that the publisher ceases operations or the primary website goes offline.

2. LOCKSS and CLOCKSS Archiving

In addition to the PKP PN, this journal utilizes the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries. These systems permit those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

3. National Repositories (Indonesia)

In compliance with Indonesian national regulations for digital preservation (Undang-Undang Serah Simpan Karya Cetak dan Karya Rekam) and to support national academic integration under Permendiktisaintek No. 9 Tahun 2026, article metadata and full texts will be routinely deposited into:

  • Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital): The national digital portal managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).
  • Perpusnas (National Library of Indonesia): Through the Indonesia OneSearch (IOS) integration.

4. Metadata Archiving (Crossref)

Terra Alimentaria is a member of Crossref. The bibliographic metadata for every published article is securely archived in the Crossref database alongside its permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring global trackability and citation persistence.

Author Self-Archiving

Beyond our institutional archiving efforts, authors are fully empowered to archive their own work. Authors hold the copyright to their articles (under CC BY 4.0) and are actively encouraged to deposit the published version in their university's institutional repository or personal academic profiles immediately upon publication.
