Call for Editors: Join the Founding Board of Applied Biofilm Science
Applied Biofilm Science (ABS) is a new, peer-reviewed Open Access journal dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of bacterial biofilms. We are actively seeking passionate, driven, and established researchers to join our founding Editorial Board as Associate Editors and Editorial Board Members.
Traditional microbiology often silos research into "environmental," "industrial," or "clinical" categories. Applied Biofilm Science breaks down these barriers, focusing on the continuum of biofilm survival—from persistence in food processing and agricultural systems to clinical infections and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in human health.
As a new journal committed to global scientific equity and rapid growth, ABS is offering fully waived Article Processing Charges (APCs) for all authors until 2028.
We are currently recruiting experts in the following domains to help shape the future of the journal:
-
Food and Industrial Microbiology
-
Clinical Biofilms and Medical Devices
-
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Tolerance in Biofilms
-
Extracellular Matrix Biology and Multi-species Consortia
-
Biofilm Control, Eradication, and Novel Therapeutics
Associate Editors Associate Editors play a critical role in the publication process. They are responsible for:
-
Assessing the initial quality and scope of assigned manuscripts.
-
Identifying and inviting independent, expert reviewers.
-
Making final editorial decisions (Accept, Reject, or Revise) based on reviewer feedback.
-
Acting as an ambassador for the journal to attract high-quality submissions.
Editorial Board Members Editorial Board Members serve as the scientific backbone of the journal. They are expected to:
-
Provide timely, high-quality peer reviews for 2 to 4 manuscripts per year in their area of expertise.
-
Advise the Editor-in-Chief on journal policies, scope, and strategic direction.
-
Suggest topics for Special Issues and potentially serve as Guest Editors.
To be considered for either position, candidates must possess:
-
A Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal degree in microbiology, food science, infectious diseases, environmental engineering, or a closely related field.
-
A strong, active publication record in biofilm research.
-
Prior experience in peer review for international, indexed academic journals.
-
A commitment to rigorous scientific standards and Open Access publishing.
-
Shape the Field: Play a pivotal role in establishing a modern, interdisciplinary journal bridging the gap between applied environmental science and clinical health.
-
Networking: Collaborate with a global team of leading experts in biofilm research.
-
Recognition: Your name, affiliation, and academic profile will be prominently listed on the journal’s website.
-
Publishing Perks: Editorial Board members will continue to receive substantial APC discounts or full waivers for their own submissions even after the introductory free period ends in 2028.
If you are interested in joining the founding Editorial Board of Applied Biofilm Science, please submit your application to the Editorial Office at editor@nusaxis.com with the subject line: "Application for Editorial Board: [Your Last Name]".
